The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brAHb'ding-näg-EE-en) are The Original Celtic Renaissance music group from Austin, Texas. Their style combines traditional Irish and Scottish music with the Lord of the Rings and comical filk music performed on a unique mix of instruments--autoharp, recorder, mandolin, and bodhran.
They were voted the second most-popular folk music group in the 2003 Austin Music Awards and have been called by the Austin Chronicle, "masters of traditional folk" having dominated the Celtic MP3 market. They are the Godfathers of Celtic MP3s, and regularly give away two CDs worth of free Celtic downloads from their website at www.thebards.net.
The Brobdingnagian Bards are friendly and jovial on and off stage and engage their listeners in the culture of Ireland and Scotland, while making them laugh to contemporary parodies. It's a musical experience that shouldn't be missed. Ask their fans, and they'll tell you The Bards are just plain "fun!" Which makes sense since, after all, they just love the music.
