| Uma Floresta is the name under which I release all my music. One hesitates to refer to it as a band, since I am the only regular member. But, violinist Justin O'Neil and pianist/composer Devin Anderson have contributed tracks to several Uma Floresta songs, including "Almost Everything," "If You Want Me," "If You're Singing By Yourself," "Beija-Flor" and others. Several years ago I was in a band with both of them called Outside - look for tracks from that band as well as Devin's and Justin's solo work here at Podsafeaudio.com. The name "Uma Floresta" is Portuguese for "A Forest," referring to the song by The Cure. When I conceived of the project initially, I had in mind a host of new wave and bossa nova influences. But, I have dabbled in quite a few different genres and subgenres since then, including industrial, techno, acoustic singer-songwriter stuff, ambient compositions and shoegaze. Currently I am obsessed with surf and related music, so expect more songs in the future that sound like soundtracks for beach films, spy movies and spaghetti westerns. Donations gladly accepted, be they via some sort of currency or possibly fruit pastries. If you have any questions, write me (Ben McCombs) at: umafloresta@gmail.com Please note: My songs are NOT to be used in any commercial endeavor without my express written permission. Please feel free to use them in your non-commercial podcasts, school projects, non-commercial videos and films, etc. Or just download them and listen to them at your leisure. If you'd like to use them in a commercial application, contact me and we can discuss it.
